Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation (ccSPF) is one type of Polyurethane Spray Foam Insulation where the physical structure of the foam plastic is made up of cells that are “closed”, or solid. CcSPF is a two-component system that our crews spray using high-quality equipment. With the help from the equipment, the crews spray a liquid that expands approximately 30x its original size in just a few seconds. During the expansion process, the spray foam insulation fills all of the gaps and voids in the framing and creates an air-seal. CcSPF qualifies as air-impermeable insulation when sprayed at the minimum thickness specified by the manufacturer (typically 1.0″ thickness). Additionally, this product is also a vapor barrier that prevents water from spreading into the walls, ceilings, or floors during the cold winter.

Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation is also an air-barrier that complies with the Building Code requirements as a High-Performance Product. We can perform Energy Modeling services to show compliance at lower R-values. Our prescriptive R-value does not compromise building performance. ccSPF is considered a medium-density product that will be able to withstand a large amount of stress without breaking, as opposed to low-density open-cell foam. Additionally, Close Cell foam provides an excellent R-value per inch for the cost of install, typically each inch is an R-value of 6.2. As a result, the high R-value per inch makes this product an excellent choice for your project!
